OUR PROCESS

PHASE 1

INITIATION

  • We believe in building strong relationships with our clients, so this onboarding process sets the stage for a collaborative and fulfilling design journey.

After an initial contact, we like to send out our ‘Get To Know Us' package which provides an insight into our design philosophy and also ensures complete clarity from the start. An invitation for you to book a 15-minute discovery call with Bex, our principal designer is also included.

Following a successful call, we like to see the space and meet you in real life with a paid consultation.

Here we get the opportunity to learn more about you and your project, allowing us to better understand your needs and aspirations. C+O also can help troubleshoot on the spot, and run through design ideas, all the while taking detailed notes to follow up with a design proposal.

PHASE 2

CREATION

  • The team lead collects all relevant background information and municipality documents. The project lead, along with the design assistant, conducts a comprehensive site measure and documentation process. This dedicated time is used to develop a comprehensive set of existing drawings, setting the stage for further progress.

  • Bex and the design team will create a unique and captivating concept design package specifically tailored for your space. This package will consist of several key elements, including a moodboard, floor plans, elevations, and initial ideas regarding furniture, fixtures, and finishes. They will present this package to you personally, providing a rough budget outline as well.

The concept design package serves as the fundamental basis for the entire design process going forward. It encapsulates the overall vision, style, and atmosphere that Bex and the team aim to achieve for your space.

During the presentation, Bex and the team will also provide a rough outline of the budget. This will give you an early indication of the expected costs involved in implementing the design.

Overall, the concept design package acts as a solid foundation for the entire design process, ensuring that everyone involved is aligned with the vision and goals for the space.

  • If strata approval and building permits are required, then the project lead creates the necessary drawings and gathers all information to submit for approval to the local authorities. It is then submitted by either the client directly or by the contractor.

This is how we do it.

This is how we do it.

PHASE 3

DEVELOP + DOCUMENT

  • After reviewing your concept feedback, incorporating any change requests, and considering regulation requirements, C+O proceeds to fully develop the design. This phase involves refining the layout and making final selections of fixtures, furniture, equipment (F,F&E), and finishes for the entire project. Detailed drawings are created, including renders of key elevations, and 3D CAD models of millwork are produced. To ensure a cohesive design, physical samples are collected and curated.

Once the design is finalized, C+O takes you on a journey through the project. We guide you through each aspect, explaining the decisions made and ensuring your understanding and satisfaction with the process. This step-by-step approach ensures that you are involved and informed throughout the project's execution.

After taking your concept feedback, any change requests and regulation requirements into consideration, C+O fully develops the design, refining the layout, final selections of all fixtures, furniture, equipment (F,F&E) and finishes throughout. Detailed drawings are created including renders of any key elevations and 3d CAD models of millwork. Physical samples are collected and curated to create a harmonious design. We also like to engage with a contractor early on so we can tailor the budget accordingly. C+O then walks you through the project piece by piece taking you on a journey along the way.

  • The team lead or drawing technician takes the fully developed design and creates an Issue For Tender (IFT) set of drawings. These drawings serve as a comprehensive package for the contractor to distribute to their trades. The IFT drawings include all the necessary information, such as specifications and a complete millwork package, that each trade needs to know.

Once the final IFT drawings are finalized, a sign-off meeting is conducted to review the budget and to provide a walkthrough of the completed design package. This meeting ensures that everyone involved understands the financial and important design aspects of the project and to sign off on the final design and selections

The goal is to ensure that the clients and all trades have a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities so the project can move ahead as smoothly as possible.

PHASE 4

Implementation

  • During this step, the project lead makes all procurement (furniture only) purchases for the client, after the deposits have been made. C+O keeps detailed records of the procurement lead times, costings & delivery schedules. Updating you along the way with any price changes and backorders. The project lead organizes all the deliveries, returns, storage and packaging removal so you can just relax.

  • The C+O team are on site on the regular to oversee the progress and installation of the entire project. We also like to make sure the quality and accuracy of the design is delivered by the trades. Often on the spot questions and problem solving are required to move forward, and all relevant information and changes are noted and relayed to the client if necessary. Once the site has had its final clean, C+O organizes the delivery and set up of all the furniture and accessories, preparing for the photoshoot and the big reveal for you.

  • As part of the staging for the photographs, C+O shops for final decor pieces that fit the new spaces, and that help create a turn-key finished project. All accessories are brought in and the space is staged for photographs. We then host a big reveal for you, walking you through every space in detail and leaving you with a project binder.

C+O then returns at a suitable time with the contractor for a deficiency walk through. Taking note of anything that the relevant trades need to amend.

    Project complete.
